Text: Students will have access to a variety of online resources that will be used in class through Google Classroom. We will have various resources available to use throughout the year (workbooks, magazines, articles, etc.).
Materials - bring to class everyday: notebook,notebook paper, colored pencils, pencils, & earbuds
Course Description:
In seventh grade, students will study the continents of Africa and Asia with a focus on the history, geography, civics, and economic development of various regions. A detailed list of what you learn can be found at www.georgiastandards.org and my website. Year at a Glance:
1st Semester: Mapping Skills overview, review of government & economics Southwest Asia, also known as the Middle East and geography of Southeast Asia
2nd Semester: Southeast Asia and Africa
Goals:
Students will learn about the above areas through cooperative learning groups, research, projects, current events and a variety of classroom activities while developing independent learning and critical thinking skills.
Requirements/Evaluations:
Students will be evaluated on skills using a variety of summative and formative assessments such as quizzes, map tests, unit tests, projects, homework and daily work.
45% Summative Assessments (tests and projects)
40% Formative Assessments (class work, activities, quizzes)
15% Benchmark - Dates are: October 9th *December 18th *March 11th * May 15th
Note: Students should not ask for extra credit.
Google Classroom online will be used for learning and many assignment submissions. Please ensure you have signed the “Acceptable Use Policy” for technology.
Make-Up Work
It is your responsibility to make up all missed assignments due to absences. You are expected to get missed handouts and notes. You are allowed the number of days you were absent plus one to hand in those assignments without deducted points.
Late Work Policy
Assignments may be accepted for two days with ten points off per day. Assignments may not be accepted on or after the third day.

4. Turn in all assignments on-time!
- Place in the classroom in-box
- 10 points off for late assignments up to 2 days - after 2 days: no late assignments taken
